Abstract:   (164 Views)
The interbank market in Iran started working in 2008 and has deepened in recent years with the entry of banks and financial institutions and the increase in the volume of transactions. On the other hand, with the publication of Islamic Treasury bills since 2015 by the General Treasury and the use of the political tool of open market operations with these bills, the monetary policy maker is trying to guide the market interest rate and achieve political goals. In this research, the causal relationship between the inter-bank market interest rate and the yield rate of 90-day treasury bills using monthly data for the period of 2015-2023 and weekly data for the period of 2021-2023 using linear and non-linear causality tests. has been The findings showed that according to the monthly data, there is an instantaneous causality relationship between the interbank rate and the yield rate of treasury bills, while there is no significant linear or non-linear Granger causality relationship between them. According to the weekly data, a weak linear causality relationship was observed from the interbank rate to the yield rate of 90-day treasury bills, so that this causality was not established in other lags of the model. Therefore, the result indicates that the monetary policy has not yet fully stepped in the direction of interest rate management to be effective in shaping the rest of the interest rates.
